Rockin for Sea Turtles

Rockin' for Sea Turtles

The logo for Rockin' for Sea Turtles, a concert event benefiting sea turtles, was developed. Concept sketches were developed and a final design was chosen. Once the logo was developed as vector art, it was then transformed into an animated logo. A promotion video was compiled based off what we learned from the class readings and input from the professor and classmates.
Week One. In week one, we designed a series of 15 logo sketches for a potential logo for the concert event website we previously created for a non-profit benefiting sea turtles. I chose a Rock n' Roll music genre and the name of the event is Rockin' for Sea Turtles.
From the 15 logo sketches, we were to choose three to refine for a final logo. From those three, we designed a vector version of the three logos. Each of the three finalized sketches was constructed as a one-color (black) vector drawing in Adobe Illustrator. I wanted the logo to represent a sea turtle and music without one element overpowering the other. I also wanted to find way to effectively use negative space.

Weeks Two and Three. In weeks two and three, we designed and developed motion graphics and a video in the creation of a promotion announcing the concert event that we developed during the previous course. We chose a final logo and converted it to an animated logo using After Effects. I chose logo number three but changed the font to Anime Ace instead of the script font present in the comps. I chose to use the particle effect for my logo animation because it can be seen as a group (bales) of sea turtles coming together as one to form the logo.

Weeks Three and Four. In weeks three and four, we were to create a 30 second promotional video for our concert event. In week three, the rough cut was created which only included images and sound. In week four, we created the final-cut video with our logo signature. For the rough cut, I used a series of still images and video of sea turtles in their natural habitat. I also used clips of musicians performing and people attending a rock concert to promote the energy that is involved in helping to save the sea turtles. Below is the rough-cut from week three.
Week Four. In week four, we compiled a final-cut video that includes the addition of text to provide information about the event. The animated logo we designed, along with a callout was added to the final piece. I used colors from my moodboard to emphasize important words throughout the video. Various images and effects were used to create a unified promotional video.
